Moms of Children with Special Needs: Recharge & Reconnect at Lumina of Hope Retreat

Here at Lumina of Hope Foundation, we believe every woman deserves a transformative experience. That's why we offer a variety of retreats designed to address different needs and life stages.

Today, I'm particularly excited to share a glimpse into a retreat we're developing, especially for moms raising children with special needs.

This cause is deeply personal to me, CoCo Collier, founder and president of Lumina of Hope. My Aunt Brenda, whom I met as a young girl, lived with a disability. Visiting her at a care facility left a lasting impression. I vividly remember her bright eyes taking in the scene – my family gathered around her. While her communication was limited, a spark of joy ignited when my grandpa, her father, sang to her. It was a powerful and emotional experience.

Years later, I learned more about Aunt Brenda's story. My grandma, burdened by the weight of care, had to make the difficult decision to place Brenda in a facility when she was a teenager. My mom, deeply affected by her sister's situation, went on to become a social worker, dedicating her career to supporting adults with special needs.

These experiences, along with countless others, have fueled our passion at Lumina of Hope to support mothers raising children with special needs. These extraordinary women tirelessly nurture, advocate for, and love their children. Yet, the risk of burnout is ever-present.

Our upcoming retreat aims to provide these deserving moms with a much-needed escape – a five-day haven to rest, reset, and replenish their spirits. Imagine a luxurious coastal setting where they can be pampered like queens. Picture them connecting with other like-minded mothers, forging a supportive sisterhood built on shared experiences. We envision nourishing meals, invigorating ocean breezes, and the restorative power of sunshine.

This retreat, like all our programs, is open to any mom who identifies with the theme. We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier, so we'll offer partial and full scholarships.

Whether you're considering attending yourself or nominating a friend or family member, remember – you are worthy of self-care. You deserve this time to recharge and emerge with renewed strength.

Stay tuned! The date and location for this special 2025 retreat will be announced soon. To be the first to know, follow and like our Facebook page and subscribe to our newsletter.

Together, let's illuminate the world, starting with the radiant light within each of us.
